- privately and publicly funded housing disputes rent arrears, disrepair, trespass and breach of covenant;
- litigation concerning the application of s.14 of the TOLATA 1996;
- disputes concerning breach of covenant in business tenancies and applications for renewal

Oriel's private law (children) practice involves the following areas:

Oriel also frequently accepts instructions to advise and represent clients in relation to injunctive remedies in the family courts such as applications for non-molestation orders and occupation orders.
Oriel is routinely instructed to advise and represent clients in relation to financial settlement proceedings. His practice in this area sees him representing clients throughout proceedings from FDA, FDR and Final Hearings, and any interim application hearings. Oriel often represents parties in both private law and financial settlement proceedings, providing them with continuity of counsel for both aspects of their case.
